NORTH TONAWANDA - North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas and Legislator Richard Andres announced that Jesse Gooch, proprietor of Painters Plus, has chosen Live Hose Volunteer Fire Company as the recipient of the 7th Annual Project H.O.P.E Award. Project H.O.P.E., which stands for "Helping Others Paint Exteriors," was initiated by Mr. Gooch in 2011.
Since that time, 6 homes in North Tonawanda have been pressure washed, primed, and painted by the Painters Plus crew and their volunteers.
This year, Live Hose Fire Company was selected. "We are trying something different and taking on a bigger project," said Mr. Gooch. "We thought it may be nice to give back to those that give so much to our community every day." Legislator Andres, who pitched the idea to Mr. Gooch, thought it would be a great opportunity to improve a neighborhood, while giving back to the first responders our city depends on. The County Legislature appropriated revenue from the Seneca Community Fund to assist in purchasing the paint, with Painters Plus donating manpower and paint supplies for the project.
"This is a great project that helps not only the dedicated volunteers at Live Hose, but also beautifies our city. I want to thank Jesse Gooch and Painters Plus as well as Legislator And res for teaming up on this worthwhile project," said Mayor Pappas.
The event will take place on September 16, 2017 at Live Hose, 71 Vandervoort St. from 9 AM until the project is completed. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers in attendance.
