CSX Performing Maintenance on Railroad Track Crossings for 2017

NORTH TONAWANDA- North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas announced that CSX Transportation will be performing maintenance on various railroad track lines and crossings throughout the City during this summer construction season. The maintenance to be performed will include replacement of railroad track, timbers and repairs to five (5) crossings within the City.
"I am pleased to see that this work will be performed this year since many of the crossings are in desperate need of repair," said Mayor Pappas. "The maintenance repairs at the various crossings will be a welcomed improvement to our City."
CSX will be closing the railroad crossings to vehicular traffic on an average of 2 days with a first phase of construction and a second phase of paving.  Detour signs will be installed and traffic will be re-routed for each of the crossings.  The first crossings to be repaired will be Thompson and Robinson Streets, with work beginning late Tuesday, June 6th or early Wednesday June 11th. Felton Street, Ward Road and Witmer Road will follow towards the end of the week with completion likely Monday, July 12th or Tuesday July 13th.
Second phase paving on Thompson and Robinson Streets will likely begin by Friday, June 9th and continue through Felton, Ward and Witmer Road, with completion of the former roads likely Monday, June 1ith and the completion of latter roads coming Wednesday, June 14th.
Please note, the Wheatfield Street crossing will be open throughout the duration of construction and that all dates are described as tentative, with additional updates soon to follow upon deviation from the above mentioned dates.
