NORTH TONAWANDA-City of North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas and his wife Linda hosted the Mayor's Annual Charity Snowflake Ball on February 18th which was again very successful.  Following the tradition that former Mayor Ortt and his wife Meghan started in 2010, a local charity was designated as the beneficiary for the annual event.
The festive charity event was held at the Knights of Columbus on Erie Avenue in the City of North Tonawanda and included a night of music, food, cocktails and enjoyment for all. Each year a different non-for profit organization is selected to be the beneficiary for the event. This year, Commander Ken Barnes of Sikora Post #1322 accepted the proceeds from the event and stated that the Post is most appreciative  for  all the effort that was put forth on their behalf.
Sikora Post #1322 was established over 70 years ago and is a vital part of the City of North Tonawanda. It is an active organization which is always giving back to the community it serves. The Post sponsors many activities for Veterans and donates to numerous agencies for youth and contributes to worthy causes like Niagara County Hospice and the Police Benevolent Association.   Many benefits are held at the hall with no charge and the proud Color Guard may be seen at local functions.
"It was an honor and a privilege to host this Veteran charity event alongside my wife, Linda, for the i h year since its inception. Thanks to the very generous sponsors and the 130 people who
attended, we were pleased to present the chosen charity a substantial amount of money to help continue their success as a Veteran organization within our community," stated Mayor Pappas.
Commander Ken Barnes was extremely pleased with the financial contribution to his organization and the funds donated will further support all of the programs which benefit our City and surrounding area. The Mayor and his wife were both presented a Sikora Post pen at the event culminating in a successful evening for all.
