CITY OF NORTH TONAWANDA SELECTED

AS ONE OF 1ST PLACE WINNERS OF NYCOM’s

“PICTURE PERFECT” PHOTO CONTEST

Mayor Lawrence V. Soos has announced that the City of North Tonawanda has been given the honor of being a 1st place winner of the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials “Picture Perfect” Photo Contest.  This contest requested the best photographs representing historic buildings, festivals, parks, waterfronts, etc, from municipalities across New York State to be featured on the cover of upcoming issues of the NYCOM Municipal Bulletin that is distributed throughout New York State and received by 7,000 municipal officials.  The winning photo submitted into the NYCOM contest by the Mayor’s Office was taken by Mike Thomann and represents evening activities at the “Canal Fest”.

“It is quite an honor for our city to have a photo of its great waterfront with the activities of the annual Canal Fest being highlighted for all the State of New York to see,” said Mayor Soos.  “This can only serve as a benefit to the notoriety of our canal waterfront and will serve to draw even more tourists to this area once they see this photo on the cover of this statewide magazine,” said Soos.   The photo of the “Canal Fest” is scheduled to be featured on the cover in the May-June 2008 issue of the NYCOM Municipal Bulletin.  NYCOM is an association of, and for, cities and villages in New York, founded in 1910, that has united local government officials in an active statewide network and is a powerful advocate for city and village interests in the state legislature and state agencies along with being a source of training and practical information for municipal officials.
