The City of North Tonawanda Engineering Department is responsible for
planning and oversite on construction projects involving the City owned
infrastructures. The department keeps permanent records on file of all
City owned utilities and buildings, and is responsible for locating and
protecting the infrastructures when outside contractors are performing
work within the City right of way.
The Engineering Department actively participates with all other
departments on construction related projects, making necessary
improvements due to the age and condition of the aging infrastructure.
The Department is also involved in planning and environmental reviews
of all new construction projects, working closely with the various
governmental agencies and city boards such as the Planning Commission,
to ensure that codes and design standards are adhered to.
Finally, the Engineering Department has taken up the challenge of
environmental clean-up within the City such as the remediation of
Gratwick-Riverside Park, Roblin Steel Site, and most recently 815 River
Road reducing the City liabilities in making North Tonawanda a cleaner
and safer place to live and work.
